Dave has taught me bluegrass instrumentation since I was 10 years old. I'm 19 now and constantly playing. Dave is not only a gifted musician, but an understanding instructor. He has the patience most
instructors don't and he also shows interest in his student personally. Dave and I have built a friendship that will carry on forever and his lessons have made me the musician I am today.
I took lessons from Dave as a beginner on fiddle. He was a big inspiration to me as I grew musically. The system he uses for teaching is very easy to pick up on and will challenge and develop any
artist at any level. I highly recommend him!
When I took lessons from Dave as a beginner he was such an inspiration and still is. I would be so excited after a lesson that I would sit in the backseat of my parents' car and play all the way
home. I found myself playing about 12 hours a day. He's a great musician and a fun person to be around! I highly recommend him as a teacher!

I took mandolin 1 lessons from Dave through the ETSU bluegrass department. I came in as a visual arts student with no prior knowledge of the instrument and very little experience with string
instruments as a whole. Dave was patient with me as he taught me the basics of the instrument, but also provided music that challenged me while remaining achievable and interesting.

Dave Yate's experience and ability are unquestioned. His love for the music, and for teaching, is evident once the lesson begins. He is dedicated to helping students realize their dreams. What else
could you ask of a music teacher? Highly recommended for anyone wanting to learn to play.

Dave Yates is one of the finest guitar players I've met. Not only that but one of the best people I've had the pleasure of knowing. He's recorded with countless musicians and knows as much about
bluegrass guitar playing and country telecaster playing as anyone I've ever met. You can't go wrong with Dave Yates!
Although I have not had the privilege of taking guitar lessons from Mr. Yates, I have been able to sit in on several. Dave is probably one of the most underrated guitar players I have met. Dave is
not only an amazing guitar player but is also an incredible fiddle player. It is always a treat to be around Dave.

I had the privilege of taking guitar lessons, acoustic and electric, from Dave. Dave has a unique teaching style that brings out the best in musicians, beginner to advanced. He truly cares about his
students' interests and their success. I would without a doubt recommend Dave to anyone interested in lessons and be confident they are getting the best instruction out there.

Dave is a great musician. I am 59 years old and have been taking for a little over a year. I can't believe how far along I have come. I consider Dave a friend, but he makes playing fun and enjoyable.
This is what makes a great teacher/instructor. Contact him now, you will not be disappointed.

He was unbelievably patient with me. A kinder and more talented teacher you won't find anywhere.
